A smooth drinking, well rounded porter with a slightly smokey aroma. Roasted malts give way to chocolate undertones on the palate.
Isambard Kingdom Brunel was certainly a man of visionary drive. He was full steam ahead at all times; his enthusiasm overwhelming the naysayers like the Duke of Wellington who regarded Brunel’s great railway with some dismay: ‘it will only encourage the lower classes to move about.’
We say hats off to Isambard and cheers to the porters who helped keep us moving and bequeathed a taste for the darker undertones of porter style beers.
